History of Cape CodMay 12, 2018
The atmosphere and service are a 4, but the food is just a little too traditional for me. I suppose for being a Caple (that’s a Cape staple, see what I did there?), we just expected a little more.
Like I said, it’s beautiful inside, with 3 distinct dining areas and a very attractive bar. The service has personality and is overall very good. The average patron was a bit long in the tooth, so be prepared to rub elbows with some Cape retirees.
As for the food…OK, first of all, their menu makes the Cheesecake Factory’s look like a specials menu. It’s enormous. The seafood options are really fresh and obviously sourced locally. The mussels were especially good (swimming in butter and garlic). The scallops were fresh but poorly prepared with no seer (how does a chef let them go out with zero color?) Some of the other veggie and land options were fine, but nothing to write home about. Overall, the food doesn’t justify the price nor stand up against other, more modern offerings.
I like this place, but I’d probably stick to small bites and cocktails at the bar next time.
